Had a great experience at Poppy’s Tea Room @ IFC. Golf Course Extension Road is the new ‘Golden Mile’ in Gurugram!

This is their ‘formal afternoon tea’ – my favourites are the scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam, their ‘posh cheddar and pickle’ sandwich, and the chocolate cake on top.

While the savouries and sweets are good, it is the tea that takes the cake… 😊 Mea culpa, bad puns.

We started with the ‘duvet day tea’ (oh so mild) and closed with the ‘campfires and vampires’ tea (cinnamon, cloves, and rose petals amping up the tea). The first tea was perfect with my favourite finger sandwich, and the campfire tea cut the sweetness of the homemade strawberry jam I had slathered too much of on my scones.

Revised my opinion of scones, I always thought them crude & clunky fare – this was comfort. Thanks to the warm and welcoming hosts for recommending the right tea – hit the spot every time.

Will be back to sample their Christmas fare!
